The little wooden lighthouse |
Hello! This week I'm posting a bit earlier than usual because I'm supposed to be going to a British Council training event from Wednesday until Sunday in Quebec City. I say 'supposed to' because last night we had our first snow storm...
So here it all begins. The snow has fallen and I imagine it's here to stay. I've already been impressed by the management and preparation techniques they have in place here. Over the last few days, lots of mysterious, long, metal poles had started popping up in front of people's houses. It turns out that these are there so that when the super cool snow removal vehicle/digger comes, it know where the footpath is!
My own preparation for the winter has involved buying boots and sorting out my coat but I've had those two things for a few weeks now. I also bought a word-search book to keep myself busy when the long evenings start... I think I'll need to stock up on some hot chocolate powder too!

So what have I been up to before the snow hit? On Saturday, I visited Petit Phare, a little lighthouse of Saint-AndrĂ© de Kamouraska with the other language assistants from Riviere-du-Loup. You can go inside and there's a dining table, board games, books and a magnificent view! We ate our lunch there. We also went to TĂȘte d'Allumette Microbrasserie, I had a hot chocolate and we played Scrabble (we decide to accept both English and French words). After that, we returned to Riviere-du-Loup and we watched an ice-hockey game. The 3Ls played and naturally, I had a poutine to suit the occasion. Unfortunately, our home team lost though...
Hopefully, my trip to Quebec City will still go ahead!
