Tips for learning French

1. Little and often.

This is the Golden Rule for language learning. You have to practise often otherwise you'll forget things!

2. Watch Netflix in French.

I'd recommend watching your favourite shows in French with French subtitles. TV is easier than radio because you're also given visual clues as to what's going on. Try watching just an episode of something and you'll see that you'll have picked up so many new words! Now imagine how much vocabulary you'll learn after a whole season...

3. Listen to the radio in French.

Even if at first you don't understand most of the vocabulary, it'll still be beneficial for you to hear the rhythm with which French speakers talk and to listen to the pronunciation of commonly used words.

4. Teach someone else.

This is the best way to check your understanding, especially of complex grammar rules. If you're able to explain these to other people then it's very likely you understand them yourself.

5. Read in French.

Even if at first you have to translate every single word, don't be discouraged. With each page you'll start to understand more and more and you'll be surprised just how fast that happens.
