Languages
So I understand that Canada has two official languages; English and French. How does this work in Quebec? Is there a lot of English present?
There is some. Most people can say at least a few words in English. Most of the people speak French here but you can hear English around town.Do you have a favourite Quebecois word?
Hmmm...that’s a good question. It’s more of a phrase… ça part. And tourtière also…Why tourtière?
Because it’s good and it sounds so Quebecois.Food
Which foods come to mind as being the most prominent in Quebecois culture?
Think I just said it, la tourtière… cipailles. Meat with potatoes...all stuffed in a pie. And la poutine. Its a typical dish but not everybody eats it. It was invented in Drummondville. This the picture of a tourtière from my Instagram page |
Can you find other cuisines in Quebec? Which ones are most popular?
Mike's is a restaurant chain...it's Italian...but I don't really know.What are some of your favourite foods?
I like Asian cuisine. Like Pad Thai and sweet and sour dishes.
Sport
What are the most popular sports in Quebec?
Hockey.
I went to watch some ice-hockey last Friday! |
I understand that’s hockey on ice?
Yeah.
Do you think it’s the most popular sport here?
I think so yeah.
(Terribly insightful haha)
Weather
I think a stereotype is the harsh Quebec winter, is it really as bad as we think?
Errr…I would say yes. But you definitely have to experience it to confirm that. Everybody thinks that we wear coats with fur on it and live in igloos. Which is false. We wear normal winter clothes. Winter is super snowy. There are snow storms and snowfall can reach more than a metre.
Do you have anything to add about Quebec?
I love it! For its history... and everything else!
In conclusion...
I can confirm, I love it too and I'm sure you would if you visited it dear reader!
