I have some exciting news! I've started looking for a car! After getting in touch with two friends of friends who are on their study abroad in Ottawa and in Toronto, I weighed up the pros and cons and decided that a car would be useful especially if I wanted to visit either of them! So the search has begun... I don't know if I'll find anything soon but you never know!

Let's go Phoenix! |
As always, I'll give you a recap of what I've been up to over the last week. Last Wednesday, I did a presentation about Poetry for one of my classes in which I talked about one of my favourite poems which is 'In a Station of the Metro' by Ezra Pound. It's a very short two line poem from the school of Imagism and I'd recommend you read it if you have a spare minute. It builds a very powerful image about anonymity in today's modern world. I also managed to learn the names of two (out of 15!) of my classes and I managed to hold a conversation with my hiking club instructor that didn't consist of me merely answering 'oui' to anything she said.
On the Thursday, I was invited and went to another Quebecois house party and again learnt some more drinking games. It was pretty good fun! However, on Friday I had a near death experience when I went to watch my school play American Football because it was super cold and I haven't bought my winter gear yet and I thought I was going to freeze to death! My youngest secondary 1 students really wanted me to watch them cheerlead at the game but I didn't last outside that long! I came home during the break and fell asleep at around 7pm. I woke up at 11pm and realised I missed the ice-hockey match that I was invited to by my francisation teacher!

My mango and chicken salad in Quebec City |
On Saturday, the weather was much warmer and the sun was out. I went to Quebec City with the other assistants from Riviere du Loup to do some shopping. We ate at a restaurant called Chez Victor and I had the best burger ever! I also tried some maple and rosemary mayo which was surprisingly good!
Sunday was a very slow, chilled day. It was miserable outside and rainy so I stayed indoors and did some activity planning for this week.
The same as last week on Monday, I had my francisation class. Before I got a lift to RDL with one of the teachers, I went to a secondary 5 class where the teacher decided to give them a break as they had exams all week. Instead, he brought his electric guitar into school and booked a room downstairs. We all sat around and he improvised our song requests including Pink Floyd, Green Day, Queen and many more!

Lovely autumnal colours in my back garden |
Yesterday, I went round for dinner to another of the English teacher's houses. She taught me how to make a rice dish called Jambalaya and I also read some books in French with her 7 and 4 year old sons. It was a very sweet afternoon and the sun was shining again!
